The three-time Olivier Award-winning writer of Dear England, Punch and Sherwood joins The Show People Podcast LIVE for an audience of just 100.
Queer Theatre will welcome James Graham OBE to the Two Brewers, Clapham, on Wednesday 11 November 2026 for an evening exploring the life, career and craft of one of Britain’s most influential playwrights and screenwriters.
In conversation with director Andrew Keates, Graham will discuss his journey from Nottinghamshire to the West End and Broadway, and the writing behind a body of work that has helped shape contemporary British theatre and television.
Graham’s credits span Dear England, Punch, This House, Ink, Sherwood and Quiz: work that combines political ambition with a precise understanding of character, conflict and the communities from which stories emerge. His musical Tammy Faye, written with Elton John and Jake Shears, adds another dimension to a career that moves between intimate personal histories and events played out on a national stage.
For writers, actors, directors and producers, the evening offers a particularly compelling opportunity: to hear Graham reflect on his own work, the stories he chooses to tell and the demands of dramatising real lives. With only 100 seats in the room, audiences can experience the conversation at close quarters.
The event forms part of Queer Theatre’s continuing series of live recordings of The Show People Podcast, hosted by Keates.
All profits from the night go towards Queer Theatre’s work telling LGBTQIA+ stories and nurturing Queer theatre-makers.
