Newsletter: January with Queer Theatre

January can be a hard month. The gigs slow down, the inbox goes quiet, the weather does its worst, and it can start to feel like you’re doing all of this on your own. So we’ve built January with one simple promise: there’s something every week where you can be in a room with other LGBTQIA+ performers, make real connections, and keep your creative self alive.

Every Monday, our Acting Classes for LGBTQIA+ People gives you a bold, welcoming queer space to play, train, and feel part of something. On Wednesday 14th January, The Show People Podcast returns live with the iconic Marina Sirtis for an honest, rare in-depth conversation. On Saturday 17th January, we’re gathering for a community visit to the Imperial War Museum’s Holocaust Galleries, ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day, to bear witness together with care and support. And on Tuesday 20th January, our Queer Play Reading Club meets again, reading Otherland by Chris Bush, with Chris joining us for Q&A.

If you want a January that feels less isolating and more connected, come find us. We’d love to see you.

The Show People Podcast

📍The Two Brewers, Clapham

The award-winning Show People Podcast continues its live monthly residency with an icon of popular culture, Marina Sirtis.

Marina is beloved worldwide for Counselor Deanna Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation, its feature films, and later Star Trek: Picard. Her screen work spans titles including NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, Titans, The Orville and more, plus films such as the Oscar-winning Crash. On stage, she made her West End debut as Marianne in Dark Sublime at Trafalgar Studios, directed by our host Andrew Keates.

Marina rarely sits down for an in-depth podcast conversation. This special live recording promises an honest, open exploration of her life and career across stage, television and film, plus the realities of grief, rebuilding, activism, and finding your voice in a complicated world.

Queer Theatre Trip
The Holocaust Galleries, IWM.

Saturday 17th January 2026
📍 Imperial War Museum, London

Queer Theatre members, their loved ones, and like-minded theatre-makers are invited to join us for a shared visit to the Imperial War Museum, spending time together in The Holocaust Galleries ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day. This is a chance to bear witness, reflect, and learn alongside your queer community, with space for anyone who needs a pause.

We will also hold space for the many LGBTQIA+ lives affected by the era’s systems of policing, imprisonment, and violence, and for the wider truth that fascism never targets only one group. This visit is an invitation to choose empathy, solidarity, and action, together.

£10 donation per person to help cover Queer Theatre admin and staffing costs, make a contribution to the museum, and support future community trips.
