Newsletter: June with Queer Theatre

Happy Pride Month from Queer Theatre.

This June, our acting classes begin rehearsals for our July OutCast Showcase of Queer Actors and Writing (get involved if you’re hoping to perform!). We’re welcoming the brilliant Rosie Jones for an unforgettable evening of The Show People Podcast LIVE, reading Four Play with playwright Jake Brunger at Queer Play Reading Club, looking for acts for our Summer Variety Night at The Two Brewers, and every week bringing together our incredible Queer Theatre community to foster connection, growth and pride.

Whether you’re an actor, writer, performer, theatre-maker, regular member of our community, or someone who has been meaning to come along for the first time, Pride Month is the perfect moment to join us.

Queer Play Reading Club
Four Play with playwright, Jake Brunger

Tuesday 16th June: The Railway, Clapham
Doors 6:30pm | New Writing From 7pm | Table Read from 7:45pm

This month’s Queer Play Reading Club we’re reading Four Play by Jake Brunger, and Jake himself will be joining us for the evening.

Rafe and Pete have been together for seven years. They love each other. They trust each other. There’s just one problem: neither of them has ever slept with anyone else.

So they make a plan.

What follows is funny, sexy, messy, emotionally dangerous and painfully recognisable. Four Play is a sharp queer comedy about monogamy, curiosity, boundaries, betrayal and what happens when people think they can keep desire under control.

As always, the evening begins with new writing from LGBTQIA+ writers in the room, followed by a group reading of the play, a relaxed Q&A with Jake Brunger and Andrew Keates, and drinks afterwards.

Held in partnership with Nick Hern Books. And everyone gets to keep their copy of the playtext.

Acting Classes for LGBTQIA+ People

Every Monday: Two Brewers, Clapham
Doors 6:30pm | Class from 7pm | Social and cabaret from 10pm

Our weekly Acting Classes for LGBTQIA+ People continue every Monday night at The Two Brewers, Clapham.

Led by award-winning theatre director Andrew Keates, these classes are for queer performers of all abilities, from total beginners to working actors who want a regular space to practise, play and grow.

This month, we’re also beginning work towards our next OutCast showcase of queer actors and writing on Wednesday 29th July 2026. That means we’ll be exploring LGBTQIA+ scenes, monologues and new writing, while still making every session playful, welcoming and accessible to newcomers.

Expect games, acting technique, queer material, rehearsals, laughter, community and the option to stay afterwards for drinks, cabaret and socialising until late.

If you’ve been meaning to come along, Pride Month is the perfect time.
