Trip: Tate Britain LGBTQIA+ Tour
With Mills Dyer

Saturday 7th March 2026
Tate Britain, Pimlico.

On Saturday 7th March 2026, Queer Theatre visited Tate Britain for a brilliant LGBTQIA+ tour exploring British art through the lens of gender identity and sexuality.

Led by Queer Theatre member Mills Dyer, the visit gave our community the chance to experience the collection from a fresh perspective, uncovering queer histories and narratives that do not always make it onto the gallery walls. It was a thoughtful, inspiring and friendly day, bringing LGBTQIA+ theatre-makers together to explore, reflect and enjoy one of London’s great galleries in each other’s company.

The tour focused on queer narratives within British art, highlighting LGBTQIA+ artists and examining themes of identity, desire, gender performance and social history. It offered space to connect historical works with contemporary queer life and culture, while also opening up conversation among the group.

After the tour, attendees spent time exploring more of Tate Britain together, enjoying lunch, conversation and a gentle wander through the galleries. As with all Queer Theatre trips, the day was about more than simply attending an event. It was about building community, spending time together and making sure LGBTQIA+ theatre-makers have spaces where they can connect and feel inspired.
