The Show People Podcast with Andrew Keates: LIVE,
with special guest, Kerry Ellis
Wednesday 13th May 2026
Two Brewers, Clapham
The award-winning Show People Podcast with Andrew Keates continues its live monthly residency at The Two Brewers with a very special guest: Kerry Ellis.
On Wednesday 13th May 2026, one of the most celebrated leading ladies in British musical theatre joins Andrew Keates for a special live recording and an intimate, in-depth conversation about a remarkable life and career in performance.
Widely recognised for Wicked, We Will Rock You and her status as a true West End legend, Kerry Ellis has built a career that has taken her from the biggest shows in London to Broadway and on to concert stages across the world. She first made history as Meat in Queen’s We Will Rock You, before becoming the first British actress to play Elphaba in Wicked in the West End, later reprising the role on Broadway to huge acclaim.
Her many leading credits also include Grizabella in Cats, Nancy in Oliver!, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Ellen in Miss Saigon, Fantine in Les Misérables, Sara in Murder Ballad and Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes, where her performance at the Barbican drew widespread praise. More recent work has continued to show the extraordinary range and staying power of her talent, including Cruella in 101 Dalmatians, leading the cast of If/Then at the Savoy Theatre, major concert performances around the world, and an ever-growing body of work as a recording artist, writer and broadcaster.
Beyond the stage, Kerry has achieved chart success as a recording artist and has been signed to both Decca Records and Sony Music. She has toured extensively with Brian May, with whom she continues a long-standing creative partnership, and has also performed around the world with Alfie Boe. Her album with Brian May, Golden Days, received widespread praise, and she remains one of the UK’s most sought-after performers across theatre, live music and concert performance. She has also released four seasons of her podcast Keep Calm and Kerry On and published her autobiography From Bumpkin to Broadway.
Hosted by director, Andrew Keates, The Show People Podcast has earned a reputation for making guests feel comfortable enough to be truly open, not only about their successes, but also about the struggles, pressures and challenges that come with building a life in the performing arts. This promises to be far more than a celebration of a glittering career. Expect an honest, intimate and revealing conversation about ambition, resilience, longevity, reinvention, and perhaps some of the lessons Kerry has learned while defying gravity through a life on stage.
For anyone who loves musical theatre, or wants a truthful look at what it really takes to defy gravity, this is an evening not to miss.
