October with Queer Theatre

Over the next few weeks, we’re taking over spaces across London with our Acting Classes for LGBTQIA+ People, welcoming Gayathiri Kamalakanthan to our Queer Play Reading Club, preparing for our next OutCast Showcase of Queer Actors & Writing with a special night, Find Your Piece! - dedicated to finding LGBTQIA+ pieces and repetoire.

We’re taking LGBTQIA+ creatives to the Wellcome Collection for a special guided tour of its HIV/AIDS exhibition - Tenderness & Rage - and partying in our newly refurbished home at The Two Brewers — all while sustaining South London’s Queer performing arts community.

And we would love to welcome you to any of these events.

Acting Classes for LGBTQIA+ People

🗓️ Every Monday · 6:30pm–9:30pm
📍 Battersea Arts Centre | The Nell of Old Drury | Two Brewers - Back Room
🎟 £20 - £30

Our Acting Classes for LGBTQIA+ People continue every Monday, bringing together professional actors, performers in training, complete beginners and everyone in between. And at the heart of everything, building a community who shows up for each other.

Throughout October and November, we’ll also be developing work for our next OutCast Showcase of Queer Actors & Writing on Wednesday 25 November.

If you’d like to perform with us, now is the time to start coming along, meet the company, find material and get involved.

While our usual home, the Two Brewers is being refurbished, classes will be held at Battersea Arts Centre on Monday 5 October and on Monday 12 October, we will be at the Nell of Old Drury, Covent Garden. We’ll return to the newly refurbished Two Brewers from Monday 19th October and we’ll be at their grand reopening party later (see below).
Plus, we’ve reduced our prices to make classes more accessible. And created new prices for those able to support our community.

Single classes are now £25 (Standard), £20 (Pay Less) or £30 (Pay It Forward). And if you take a loyalty pass, you can book all classes for just £20 a week.

Looking for the perfect piece to perform in our November OutCast Showcase?

Grab a drink, find a table, browse the library and see what excites you. We’ll be there to help match people with plays, scenes and each other.

There’ll be complimentary tea, coffee and snacks, followed by drinks and a lovely way for us all to get to know each other better too.

Two Brewers Grand Reopening

Our home is back!

After its major refurbishment, Queer Theatre members are invited to be among the first through the doors as The Two Brewers unveils its brand-new look.

There’ll be complimentary Cosmopolitans, prosecco and beer, live drag and cabaret with Ember, Polly Glamorous and Sandra, DJs and dancing across both rooms — including your first chance to see the transformed Back Room where our classes, showcases and live podcasts take place.

We’ve spent a lot of time away while the builders have been in. And we can’t wait to see what our future looks like. And entry is FREE!

Queer Theatre Trip: Tenderness and Rage

📍 Wellcome Collection, Euston
🎟 £12 · Only 20 Places

Join a small group of Queer Theatre members for a private guided tour of Tenderness and Rage at the Wellcome Collection.

The exhibition explores HIV and AIDS through stories of protest, activism, care and survival — from the height of the UK AIDS epidemic to global experiences of HIV today.

After our private tour, we’ll have time to explore the Wellcome Collection together before heading for lunch, coffee and a chance to properly catch up.

There are only 20 places available, so advance booking is strongly recommended.

Queer Play Reading Club: Period Parrrty
By Gayathiri Kamalakanthan

🗓️ Tuesday 20 October · 6:30pm-10:30pm
📍 The Railway, Clapham
🎟 £30 · Includes Playtext + Tea, Coffee & Snacks

This month’s Queer Play Reading Club brings us a funny, tender Tamil trans rom-com about family, identity, culture and finding space to become yourself.

Krish is preparing for a tRaditional Tamil coming-of-age celebration marking their entry into womanhood.

There’s just one problem. Krish isn’t a girl.

We are especially delighted that playwright Gayathiri Kamalakanthan will be joining us as our special guest to explore the play, its creation and the stories behind it.

As always, the evening begins with a chance for LGBTQIA+ writers to share a short piece of new work. We’ll then read Period Parrrty together around the table before discussing the play with Gayathiri.

And your ticket includes your own copy of the play to take home.

You don’t need to be an actor, you don’t need to prepare anything and you never have to read if you don’t want to. Come to perform, write, listen, discuss — or simply spend an evening around a table with other queer people who love theatre.

Then stay for a drink afterwards.

And all of this is leading towards our next… big…

OutCast: London’s Showcase of Queer Actors & Writing | Autumn 2026

🗓️ Wednesday 25 November · 7:30pm-10pm
📍 Two Brewers
🎟 £10 - £30

Our OutCast showcases give members of our acting community the opportunity to perform queer work onstage for friends, supporters and invited members of the theatre industry.

Expect an evening of Queer scenes from iconic LGBTQIA+ plays, brand new writing and original work from our members. These evenings are incredibly powerful to see Queer performers, telling queer stories for a queer audience.

If you are an agent, casting director, director, producer or performing arts employer, please contact us so we can arrange comps to see our actors.

So if you’ve been thinking about coming back to class, trying acting for the first time, reigniting your acting, writing or just desperate to meet more Queer creatives for connection and collaborating. October is the best month to walk through our doors.
